  • THIS DAY IS A GOOD ENOUGH DAY

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND release their long awaited debut album ‘This day is a good enough day’ through Crocfinger Records on Monday the 29th August. With eleven songs hewn with PEI’s trademark brand of melancholia, dark wit and drinking sing-a-longs, the album is a study in clever songwriting, littered with brutal yet heart-tugging lyrics that manage to challenge and delight in equal measure. Song titles like ‘Sex in the morning (I’m coughing, you’re yawning)’ and ‘The Keith Disaster Fund’ reveal the band’s dry Scottish humour and location - imagine a poppier Aidan Moffat. The album is proceeded by the first single to be lifted from the record, the joyous ‘You Look Like I need a Drink’ on the 1st August.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND's ALBUM NEWS UPDATE

Latest thoughts are that the Prince Edward Island album will be released on 18th November 2010. This should be in line with the new John Mouse single ‘Got you shaking your head (like David Gray)’

    I HEART THE MONSTER HERO

Latest news is that our very own Hero is messing about with the mixes for his new album, so it shouldn’t be long now. Then again, we are late with every release, so don’t hold your communal breath.

  • JOHN MoUSE - MAIDA VALE SESSION FOR RADIO 1

    CURRENT MOOD: Telecasters

JOHN MOUSE plays a Maida Vale session for Radio 1

Yes folks...just like it says on the tin....our very own Cardiff based quirk–pop genius, John MOuse, has just recorded a BBC Radio 1 session down at the Vale that is Maida. Yup...Maida bloody Vale. PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND stepped in as his backing band for the day. John recorded four songs; 'If I were an oyster / The last great Rhondda romance / Sex with you / Got you shaking your head (like David Gray)' which all went out this week on Bethan Elfyn’s show. They are repeating ...Rhondda romance this week on Huw Stevens show, so tune in. There is also a dapper video of the whole thing up on the Radio 1 website (look in the videos section) The line up for the day was, from left to right, Islanders Nick, James, Jon and Darren; the little one in the middle is the MOuse himself; next to him is his step-bro Steve off-the-telly-box Jones (who did some sterling vocals and a cracking interview with John); next to him is Faye (Munter); then Brigid, who is an actual musician with technical skills and everything; and finally the Fife potato flattener (Phil). Please go over to the John Mouse Artists page to have a listen to / order John’s album. It’s very good...but we would say that. Oh, it’s called 'Humber Dogger Forties', by the way. Dapper!

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND's album release 20th September (Probably 2010)

Yes, indeed. After the long, long build up it’s finally with us....nearly! Nope....not the start of the new season, but......the PEI album. We think it will be called 'This day was a good enough day'. But then again, maybe not. It has been mixed. It has been mastered. It has been mixed again. Again and again.....aaaaaaaannnnd stop. We’re really excited cos it’s finally bloody here. It does sound fantastic, though. We think you’ll like it.

    Till soon

  • JOHN MoUSE ON RADIO 1

    CURRENT MOOD: Argumentative

    CATEGORY: Automotive

    Howdy y’all.

Just a quickie to let you know Bethan Elfyn will be playing the new JOHN MoUSE single ‘The last great Rhondda romance’ on her Radio 1 show this Wednesday (29th March). It features guest vocals from one Stephen Ashton Jones (more widely known as Steve “T4” Jones) and is out on May 14th as download and limited edition single. It tells the tale of an incestuous homosexual relationship between to straight step-brothers - an all too familiar occurrence in the south Wales valleys (so John informs us). It will be the lead single from the new John MOuse album ‘Humber Dogger Forties’ that we are delighted to be releasing on 28th May. The single will be backed by ‘Sex with you’ which you can hear on the player. We’ll be posting ‘...Rhondda romance’ nearer the release date.
